Washington, DC- Statement issued by Ron Busby, Sr., President and CEO, U.S. Black Chambers, in support of Sean Combs' purchase of the Carolina Panthers:
"The National Football League has long been home to African American talent and commitment to the game of football. Thanks primarily to its players, 70 percent of whom are Black, the NFL has been a unifying force in support of critical issues, including criminal justice reform and women's equality.
"The U.S. Black Chambers believes it's time for NFL team ownership to reflect the diversity of its players and fans, and stands in full support of Sean Combs' purchase of the Carolina Panthers franchise. The changing of guards provides a unique opportunity for the NFL to continue its work tackling social injustice.
"We know when those with a seat at the table look like America it only adds value and fosters meaningful dialogue about equality and equity. Anything less hurts this country, morally and economically."
