In the wake of Charlottesville and innumerable attacks on Black Americans and the Black economy, we urge our membership to aggressively take economic action by first moving your money to a Black-owned bank, this sends a red-flag to the economy that we are willing and able to shift our money en masse. Second, make it a serious priority to buy from Black-owned businesses, history shows us that when (and only when) we have ownership, we can build a shield against institutional racism. And lastly, take action towards strengthening our community, whether it's mentoring a youth, funding a Black-owned business, or starting your own; we are obligated to take a stand against racism by using our resources to strengthen our community.
Like you and many of our members we were disappointed to hear the President's initial statements where he blamed "many sides" for the violence and murder that took place in Charlottesville. We stand by those that believe there are only 2 sides to this issue, the right side and the wrong side; as the voice of America's Black business owners we denounce all forms of hatred and bigotry. The sad reality is that occurrences like Charlottesville will reoccur, it's our hope that our people are compelled by necessity to rebuild the Black community through entrepreneurship and recycling black dollars within the Black community.
In the Spirit of Success,
Ron Busby, Sr.
President
U.S. Black Chambers, Inc.
