THE GREATER WASHINGTON BLACK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, INC. WILL
CELEBRATE ITS LAUNCH AND BEGIN ACCEPTING MEMBERS

Washington, DC- The Greater Washington Black Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (GWBCC), will launch on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Union District Oyster Bar and Lounge, a black-owned restaurant located at 501 Morse Street NE, Washington, DC 20002 from 8:30am-11:00am.

The event will commemorate the launch of the new chamber and will honor local business owners. GWBCC was founded in 2017 by black business owners who recognize the need to
purposefully engage on issues that are relevant to the growth and vibrancy of the region’s black business community. GWBCC is a member of the national U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. (USBC) and will collaborate with existing black chambers in the DC metropolitan area.

The primary goal of the GWBCC is to increase the revenue base of black business owners in
government contracting, technology, infrastructure and other viable industries in the region. GWBCC Founder Antwanye Ford says:

“As the District and greater region continues to flourish, it is imperative that we ensure black businesses, which have always been a bedrock of the local economy, have a unified voice at the table. We believe that all business deserves an opportunity for the significant growth that this region has seen over the years.”

This event will bring over 100 leaders of the local black business community together, including local political leaders, national representatives from the USBC, and key stakeholders.
